Idols, Methods and the Organisation of knowledge: A Workshop on the De augmentis scientiarum

We are pleased to announce the workshop “Idols, Methods and the Organisation of Knowledge: A Workshop on the De augmentis scientiarum,” which will take place on 6–7 November 2025 at the Maison Française d’Oxford.

This two-day event will bring together leading scholars to explore Francis Bacon’s De augmentis scientiarum and its broader intellectual, methodological, and cultural contexts.

The workshop is organised by Dana Jalobeanu (UTN, Nuremberg/University of Bucharest), Daniel Garber (Princeton), Mogens Lærke (CNRS-IHRIM/MFO, Lyon/Oxford), and Alan Stewart (Columbia).
